5 years for attempted murder of his own two young children. Likely out in 2 years. Utterly despicable work on the part of the Crown and the judge.

Any Liberals out there who want to step forward and try to defend this? Oh, right. They didn't see this on CBC or CTV, so it didn't happen.

5 years ? What a joke of a sentence for the freak .

He needs to be in gen pop, none of this protective custody crap. He needs to suffer excruciatingly for the entire sentence and then some.

Agreed, but he'll probably end up in the women's prison so will get off lightly again.

Or rape and impregnate women like has already happened multiple times.

And yet only five years? And if he claims he is a woman, in a woman’s prison? Despicable and a travesty. Be a normal dude and try that. Min 20 years. Justice has certainly gone off the rails.

Five years. So truly shocking, it's as if the court said 'oh, poor self-defining wrong body transgender, mentally deranged male, while the family is left in hell, but we the court will leave the poor guy alone, so he doesn't suffer more. What absurdity..

That sentence is NOT a deterrent, especially for that kind of extremely violent act. I am absolutely appalled at the state of this country’s justice system. It is a two tiered, dysfunctional disaster.

Maybe he will get some tender understanding from the other inmates at his men's prison!

If he claims to be a woman???

Disgusting and very disturbing that this person is not charged with attempted murder! If they do this to his own children what will he do to strangers!

Brian Brown's avatar

Absolutely disgusting. I can't believe that some older family member didn't make him pay for his actions. We are raising a world of pussies.

it appears that our Canadian JUSTICE SYSTEM no longer dispenses reasonable justice. If an individual is considered by a judge as not being NORMAL mentally or otherwise, the accused becomes ENTITLED to a reduced sentence no matter what the crime is that has been committed. Where has our common sense gone?

bring back Capitol punishment then these freaks will think twice about doing horrific things to people let alone innocent children they should be erased from earth

Hopefully the other inmates will do the right thing

Deterrence?

Don't think so.

He'll do it again...

If this creep serves time in a women’s prison then I’m done. Enough.

Was this the longest sentence the Judge could have given? It this 'light' sentence the fault of the judge or the law ?

Tom C.'s avatar

The judge sets the sentence.
