Alberta already pays for the R.C.M.P. that polices our national parks, much of the parks' emergency services are underwritten or supplied by the Alberta provincial government nearby local governments already. The 2024 Jasper fire is a prime example of Parks Canada's gross mismanagement of land under their jurisdiction and then they kept throwing up roadblocks when the Alberta government and private companies offered to assist in the fire fighting process. Alberta's five national parks and our share of national historic sites generated 46% of the total revenue in the entire Canadian national park system in 2023. This number shows that all these parks and historical sites are actually profitable enough to be completely self-sustaining in Alberta and could easily underwrite our entire provincial park system as well. The value of these supposed federal government properties has to be counterbalanced by Alberta's 12% share in all of the Canadian government's holdings across Canada. If Alberta has to assume 12% of the national debt, I agree with this even though Alberta doesn't receive 12% of the federal government's total support payments, then Alberta is owed 12% of the value of all the federal government's land and real estate holdings. I believe the case can be made for Alberta to simply receive all federal holdings within the province by a simple straight forward transfer from the federal crown holdings to the provincial crown holdings with the understanding Alberta will take on 12% of the federal government debt. Other than the value of the land, federal government military holdings have little value, most of the Canadian Forces military equipment in Alberta is old, antiquated, and generations out of date and the real estate value of the associated buildings and infrastructure is relatively small. To say Alberta has to pay the federal government for all its supposed holdings in Alberta and also that Alberta has to assume 12% of the federal government debt is to then also have to say that Alberta is owed 12% of all the federal government holdings in the rest of the country. Otherwise Alberta just takes over whatever federal government holdings and property are within this province and we withdraw our claim to 12% of the total federal government holdings within the entire country. Or Alberta can owe Canada for their holdings in Alberta and Alberta will just take the western half of the Northwest Territories from Canada in return. I have little doubt that chunk of the country would vote to join a new Albertan nation as they're pretty much fully dependent on Alberta anyway. As for the actual bureaucracy of government, Alberta could slash the provincial government bureaucracy to save some money through cutting duplication and the newly created federal bureaucracy could be heavily streamlined, we're creating it from scratch. Alberta has already started down the path to replace the R.C.M.P. in this province, just continue that path and perhaps set up an agency along the lines of the American FBI to serve as the "national" police force.
