"called for greater collaboration between Health Canada, the Canada Border Services Agency, the Canada Revenue Agency and law enforcement agencies"

..They ARE collaborating with each other by covering each other's asses as entities under the control of the Carney Cartel...so quit feeding us bullshit labeled as chocolate ice cream.. .💩

Absolutely correct, since the indigenous reserves are not part of any "organized crime" so they are exempt. They can sell as much tobacco as they want without any punitive consequences. Wonderful and still get their federal grants/funds. Only in Canada!!!!

That is because everything will come back to the Liberal Party Mafia.

Does anyone expect the Liberals to admit to throwing away billions of Canadian Tax dollars in reconciliation payments to a privileged group that's been getting rich off the sale of contraband tobacco products? "Sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander" my ass! It's been well-known for years that discounted illegal alcohol and tobacco products were readily available through reservations like Caughnawaga. They should have to use some of their dirty money to pay for the clean water they expect us to provide. And maybe they should be making reconciliation payments to the families of people who really did lose members of their families as a result of easy access to cheap cigarettes and alcohol provided by Indigenous criminals. I doubt they'd have problems providing medical reports and occupied graves to substantiate their claims

Check Canada Post. I believe they are the ones shipping them.

As long as the federal liberal government is making money off of something criminal, it is only the common people who will be the ones punished.

Health Canada isn't gonna rat ITSELF out!!..that wud be silly...

The Indian smuggling of illegal tobacco products has been going on for on for over a century. To defraud the Federal Government of excise taxes has been elevated to a sacred religious rite with little or no law enforcement.

Canada couldn’t give an honest review of what they ate for breakfast this morning!! What kind of agency continues to recommend mRNA flu shots when the entire world knows the deadly results? Rothmans et al have hit the nail perfectly!!

Rest assured, Carney will make certain there’s “no crime or criminal activity” attached to this Health Canada garbage!

The actual TRUTH perhaps might interfere with the Eby/Carney bullshit they’re trying to load on Canadians??? Ottawa is actively hard at work promoting this totally dishonest “poor battered FNs” jargon…..when truthfully, a number of southern FN Chief and Councils are enjoying CCP dollars, plus Ottawa’s millions with no reporting of the funds ( taxpayer $$$$s). Carney is utilizing this ugly division of Canadians to further his ways and means of tearing Canada apart! Think the recent Alberta monkey-wrench! Throw in 700+ Iranian terrorists that he allows to operate free from any Canadian laws, and a suffocating number of Beijing off-shoots…..that’s our Canada today!!

Investigative journalist, Sam Cooper, just published a report entitled, “ The Cigarette Clues in Winnipeg's Biggest Cartel Bust Point to an Indigenous Tobacco Empire and Protected Entities”…..article is linked below!

I don’t smoke, my husband does. He buys contraband cigarettes and I’m glad he does. They cost less than half than what the manufacturers do. If it weren’t for all the taxes on them he would buy regular ones.

What other outcome would you expect when the government taxes legitimate businesses to the breaking point but settles another group of people above the law and deems them untouchable?

JOHN S SPENCE's avatar

Ruinous taxation and force are driving low-income addicts to look for cheaper ways to support their nicotine habit. Take away the potential profit in illicit cigarettes by lowering taxes on legal cigarettes. If there are no easy profits in non-taxed cigarettes the bulk of the business will dry up. Low-cost cigarettes will not attract new smokers but will allow nicotine addicts [fellow Canadians] to afford more good, healthy things like food and lodging.

Maybe if the tobacco industry didn’t gouge the consumers with their insane prices, citizens wouldn’t have to be doing this! Especially with how people are already suffering under this liberal administration. Honestly! If you buy them from the store, they’re literally raping us! If you can purchase at a quarter of the cost? Where would any sane person want to get them from?

So sounds like your a ok of the conglomerates controlling the cig market, not okay. Smokers are addicted, the gov is taking away our rights, yet you support conglomerates of the cig industry. Wow.

Lorne Beaudette's avatar

That is your interpretation. It could be wrong. Maybe government over regulation on some sectors while turning a blind eye to selected demographics who claim victimhood has created a situation that lets crime thrive. But you find it easier to blame the messenger.

Why is tobacco taxed to the point that it is creates a black market opportunity, yet hard drugs are given to addicts?
