This will just push the separation question even harder. Liberal appointed judges standing in the way of democracy..... who would have guessed?

Thank you Justice S. Leonard. This will only add fuel to the desire to leave this corrupt system. Premier Smith said out loud what many of us have been thinking for years - "Is Canada a prison that you can’t get out of?”

Why is it a liberal fucking judge.

Trudeau/ Carney appointment..just for this situation..

I thought Canada was supposed to be a Democracy. Since when did the Indians get to dictate what the Alberta Taxpayers must do. If they are Canadians they should get one vote each and that is it. Just like we do. C'mon Danielle let's get this on the Referendum for a vote. Consult with them and if they don't like it tell them to go pound salt and express themselves through their vote the same way we must. This is getting insane, and I for one am tired of Communism being forced upon us. Free Alberta.

This is precisely why Quebec will never be able to separate. Why are we accepting their BS?

DELAY DELAY WHAT WILL BE THE APEAL DATE NEXT FK YEAR??? LETS JUST QUIT PAYING FEDERAL TAX CHEIFS MAY HAVE TO GO TO WORK

Just ignore this insane ruling and mandate a separation vote in October.

Doug Stephens's avatar

Absolutely. Smith had the power to do that.

The 5% of the population ( at least the bought and paid for Chiefs) once again is proven to have the final say as to what goes on in this province and Country. Truly disgusting.

Who do these judges think they are? Who are they to decide what kind of life people desire? We're getting closer to the Gulag every day. We need independence more than ever...not just for provinces, but for every person in the country who values their freedom of thought, speech and choice.

So Quebec can threaten separation but Alberta can't? Hmm.

ChrisHind's avatar

Does this mean Quebec will need to consult First Nations ahead of a vote on separation and do First Nations have legislative authority to veto such a petition if they do not constitute a majority of those eligible to cast a vote.

With CUSMA about to expire with no trade agreement the Government may be tacking toward a fall election to blame it all on Trump. They wouldn’t want voters looking at Alberta Referendums to distract voters.

Good call. Nothing Liberals do is accidental. Everything leads to their end game.

My suggestion is to move all Indian land titles/reserves to BC where the Indians can own the entire province. End the Indian Act. Free up the rest of Canada. This minority rules BS has to end.

Truth Seeker's avatar

Hey I live in BC and am a land owner. No thanks to your suggestion 😫 The people are going to fight this land grab in BC!!!

Bryan Poynter's avatar

Agree. It's time to use that 'Not withstanding' clause and screw the court and the Indians.

Truth Seeker's avatar

The indigenous peoples of Alberta had every right to sign the petition, or not, just like any other Albertan. Indigenous peoples are not "special"; they should be treated as any other Canadian is treated.

Why was it ok for Quebec?

Anyone who complied with Ottawa's census is a federalist and is not ready for separation. And don't give the chickenshit..."It's the law and if you don't do it you get fined".

Your just not ready. If you can't break the census mandate you don't deserve freedom.

Think about that.
