This will just push the separation question even harder. Liberal appointed judges standing in the way of democracy..... who would have guessed?

Ted Kuntz's avatar

Thank you Justice S. Leonard. This will only add fuel to the desire to leave this corrupt system. Premier Smith said out loud what many of us have been thinking for years - "Is Canada a prison that you can’t get out of?”

Robin's avatar

Why thank a stupid female judge that kisses the liberal ass

I thought Canada was supposed to be a Democracy. Since when did the Indians get to dictate what the Alberta Taxpayers must do. If they are Canadians they should get one vote each and that is it. Just like we do. C'mon Danielle let's get this on the Referendum for a vote. Consult with them and if they don't like it tell them to go pound salt and express themselves through their vote the same way we must. This is getting insane, and I for one am tired of Communism being forced upon us. Free Alberta.

Bruce Williams's avatar

Unfortunately, we do not get one vote each. Let me explain. In Alberta we have roughly 4.37 million people and 37 MP's, or one MP per 118,100 people. However, in New Brunswick there are 868,630 people and 10 MP's, or one MP per 86,863 people. That means that we are severely under represented in Parliament and my vote is only worth 73% of a vote in New Brunswick. That isn't Democracy when there is disparity amongst the population. We don't all have one vote, we in Alberta have only a .73 vote. Don't get me started on the Senate as that is and even worse disparity. Make that make sense.

Dennis Cross's avatar

The net result is disparity, but I was simply referring to the single vote each of us get for anything. The Indians, if they are Canadian Citizens should only get the same and it shouldn't carry more weight than anybody else.

Why is it a liberal fucking judge.

Don's avatar

Trudeau/ Carney appointment..just for this situation..

timevans's avatar

So Quebec can threaten separation but Alberta can't? Hmm.

Tina Ivany's avatar

Who do these judges think they are? Who are they to decide what kind of life people desire? We're getting closer to the Gulag every day. We need independence more than ever...not just for provinces, but for every person in the country who values their freedom of thought, speech and choice.

Bruce Williams's avatar

I'll tell you who they are. Under qualified lawyers that got elevated to the position of a judge by the Liberal appointed selection panel. How is it that a single unelected person can rule over 4.37 million people???

Truth Seeker's avatar

The indigenous peoples of Alberta had every right to sign the petition, or not, just like any other Albertan. Indigenous peoples are not "special"; they should be treated as any other Canadian is treated.

Carole Saville's avatar

That is the only law that should be pertinent in this situation. Every Albertan has one vote. Period.

eric purfield's avatar

Just ignore this insane ruling and mandate a separation vote in October.

Doug Stephens's avatar

Absolutely. Smith had the power to do that.

The 5% of the population ( at least the bought and paid for Chiefs) once again is proven to have the final say as to what goes on in this province and Country. Truly disgusting.

ChrisHind's avatar

Does this mean Quebec will need to consult First Nations ahead of a vote on separation and do First Nations have legislative authority to veto such a petition if they do not constitute a majority of those eligible to cast a vote.

Rick Tourond's avatar

DELAY DELAY WHAT WILL BE THE APEAL DATE NEXT FK YEAR??? LETS JUST QUIT PAYING FEDERAL TAX CHEIFS MAY HAVE TO GO TO WORK

Dcalfe's avatar

This is precisely why Quebec will never be able to separate. Why are we accepting their BS?

Truth Seeker's avatar

Hey I live in BC and am a land owner. No thanks to your suggestion 😫 The people are going to fight this land grab in BC!!!

Bryan Poynter's avatar

Agree. It's time to use that 'Not withstanding' clause and screw the court and the Indians.

J Holden's avatar

My suggestion is to move all Indian land titles/reserves to BC where the Indians can own the entire province. End the Indian Act. Free up the rest of Canada. This minority rules BS has to end.

Anthony Tasker's avatar

Hey come on ... We have enough problems here in BC ,,, And you might want to take a trip to the ocean one day

J Holden's avatar

Lol. I lived in Vancouver and White Rock for 15 years. When those places were invaded common sense drove us to the Okanagan for another dozen years. The lakes are better than the ocean. The final move was back to Alberta. No silly land claims. Fee Simple reigns and wacko NDP holds no power.

Dennis Pearce's avatar

With CUSMA about to expire with no trade agreement the Government may be tacking toward a fall election to blame it all on Trump. They wouldn’t want voters looking at Alberta Referendums to distract voters.

Tina Ivany's avatar

Good call. Nothing Liberals do is accidental. Everything leads to their end game.

Anthony Tasker's avatar

Yeah but they are starting to make a lot of strategic mistakes ,,, looks.like to me anyway

Tina Ivany's avatar

You're right. There's purpose, but no structure or cohesion to their proposals...none of which matters, since nothing gets done anyway. A lot of talk, but zero action. Seems to me more like panic mode because with their ill-gained majority, now they have to deliver.

Anthony Tasker's avatar

Hopefully they are losing complete control

The only conclusions that can be made are that Marxism has taken hold of our courts and that definitely won’t allow a democratic vote by the people and that these chiefs who think they’re something will find out that they won’t matter in the Marxist system either. But hey they reap what they sow. Very disappointing that it has come down to this. Today I am more resolute than ever that Alberta has to leave and that the chiefs have made their choice for their people as well . So they can have Canada but they can’t have Alberta too.

Why was it ok for Quebec?
