Why aren't we electing Judges and Prosecutors? Why aren't there term limits?

I was wondering the same thing.

Why does the Prime Minister get to appoint the higher court judges? Clearly there is a problem with this system.

Carole Saville's avatar

That is a really good question. So far they have appointed activist judges and that isn't going well.

I would like it if they were elected, or failing that, appointed by the royal opposition party leader.

This gvt always says the right thing "collaborative" but they do not behave how they talk...at all!

We know that this won't change anything. The only meaningful change will come through separation. C'mon Daniel get onboard! FREE ALBERTA!!!

Excellent idea there is no balance in the selection of judges so this move by four premieres is welcome, I am not so sure that the governing liberals will do this but we have to keep up the pressure on the federal government to do something about this. As far as Sean Fraser is concerned his response was predictable, then again what should we expect from a Trudeau era hack!

Sean Fraser can make like the birds and flock off. Total pos and lying LPC dupe.

Melanie had to leave quickly..somebody yelled "bar's open"

Mieke van Peenen's avatar

Why did Melanie Jolie find it necessary to refer to Quebec as if it's a separate entity, instead of just another provine? She's the most unfit minister in the whole cabinet I think, and there's plenty of competition 😏

This is a no brainer and should have been done a long time ago .

The senate needs a big reform too.

Isn't this current government now trying to remove powers from provinces?

Mark Carney has an agenda and Mark Carney‘s agenda for the WEF decides who he appoints as HIS judges. Alberta has priorities and Alberta‘s priorities are often not on Mark Carney’s list of priorities. The Solution is for each province to be able to select judges that align with reality and the agenda of the individual Province.

The Canadian Federal Government has grown too big under the self-serving Left, it either trims down and gives more control to the Provinces, or the provincial fragmentations will become better SEPARATE nations.

Thank you, for giving the people of #Alberta, a voice #DanielleSmith.

It’s a known fact, with ample proof, that Trudeau Liberal appointed Judges often exhibit partisan and corrupt behaviours and rulings! Glaring example is the Truckers’ Convoy…….the Liberals taxpayer funded obsession to hear this entire case for a third round….to be presided over by a very partisan and prejudiced Trudeau appointed Judge! That’s precisely how the bulk of Canada’s partisan judiciary operate!

Peter James's avatar

Is one of the prerequisites for appointment being a donor to Liberal party leaders or candidates in elections or is that only a TRUDEAU prerequisite. If they are worried about this they that appoint judges will maybe have credibility. Appointees to the top levels of the judiciary should need approval from all provinces and territories and express why they would or would not give their nod for appointment.

Terrible, and corrupt , lying minister

Mieke van Peenen's avatar

The letter was addressed to Mark Carnage, not Fraser. I guess since Carnage is never in the office, his maul just automatically goes to his minions?

MJS's avatar

Fraser is so corrupt!! Will not listen to provinces

Why does the National Post indicate that 73.6% of Federal Appointees were members of the Liberal Party from 2016 and Juno reports only 23%?

What are the real numbers? I thought it was even more like 100% of appointees (Judges) bribed their way into office, or was that Senators for Life?

WatZ_In_Ur_Head?'s avatar

Yeah so do the real Canadians.
