Too little too late! I think it is long past time for academic posturing. The alternative options have already been exhausted, and now is the time for action.
Reasonable discussion and debate are essential to society. Even if Alberta were to separate ,if a forum for such discussions is rejected outright you should question what kind of separate state Alberta would end up being. There are clearly arguments for both sides and people should be as informed as possible before casting a vote either way. I think it sounds like a good opportunity for everyone involved.
@Blair Martin Thank you for an excellent post. It would have been even better if you'd given some examples, such as freedom of speech which is enshrined in the American Constitution..

Canada should adopt a constitution very similar to that of the United States of America for better protection of Canadians.
