St. Albert—Sturgeon River Conservative MP Michael Cooper’s constituency office has been vandalized with spray paint by an anti-Israel individual.
The vandalism of Cooper’s office is another in a long line of attacks targeting the property of Jewish Canadians and politicians supportive of Israel and Canada’s Jewish community.
On Sunday evening, Cooper posted a picture of a brick-and-mortar wall that was vandalized with the words “MP Cooper supports genocide” in blue and red lettering, referring to the false claim that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.
The picture also shows that the front doors to Cooper’s office were splattered with red paint, often used by anti-Israel vandals to symbolize blood.
Alberta RCMP told True North that the vandal had also written “Free Palestine” and “Fascist” on the walls.
The RCMP said that no suspects have been identified at this time and that the file has been closed.
Cooper indicated that the vandalism has not shaken him and that he will continue to support Israel.
“Today, for the second time, my constituency office was vandalized because of my consistent support for Israel and Canada's Jewish community,” said Cooper.
“Vandalism and threats are NEVER acceptable. I'm not intimidated and won't be silenced by these THUGS. I stand with Israel.”
Cooper has a long history of supporting Israel and opposing pro-Hamas activists in his nearly ten years as an opposition MP.
In 2017, Cooper rose in the House of Commons to condemn a pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel demonstration in Vancouver in which Israeli flags were burned, calling the protest racist with no place in an inclusive Canada.
In a November 2023 protest against Israel, shortly after Hamas’ attack against Israeli civilians and the beginning of Israel’s subsequent counterattack, a demonstrator waved a sign condemning Cooper for his “racism and disdain for Palestinians’ resistance,” likely referring to his opposition to the October 7 attacks.
HonestReporting Canada condemned the vandalism and thanked Cooper for his many years of pro-Israel advocacy.
“This is unacceptable! Michael Cooper: We are deeply appreciative of your moral clarity in the face of genocidal jihadists,” HonestReporting Canada wrote in a post to X.
If you are gonna support any world cause with violence/vandalism, go do it on the front line of whatever country you support. This is not Canadas war, the Ukraine/russian comflict again is not Canadas war, if you feel the need to support them funancially do so out of your own pocket, our tax dollars are meant to help Canadians first not fund wars that are not ours.
absolutely Quentin I am so sick and tired of people bringing their wars to my country, if you are so adamant about the problem go to the front lines and do something about it, when you come to our country you accept our laws and traditions, if not don't come, we need citizens that are part of the solution not part of the problem
