The Tobacco industry is still paying off politicians and scientists. No wonder that the peoples trust is gone.

100% agree.

Health Canada is finally starting to catch up to what vapers have known for years. Other countries have said it was 95% safer for over ten years now. Many peer-reviewed studies have been done, Bad stories about vaping get front page while studies showing the benefits and harm reduction are lucky if they get a one-liner in the press. They've even gone as far as connecting

For example, in 2019, there was a huge story going around about vapers being hospitalized with major breathing issues, in some cases leading to death. That went viral, but the news that it was actually being caused by black-market marijuana vapes having MCT oil added to them for thickening. Of course, the media didn't bother putting that news out.

There are many more examples.

Derek, you are so right on all your points. In 2019- I got phenomena, but without a primary physician I had use the ER for diagnosis and treatment. I was in pain, my lungs hurt so much and the nurse said, that's nothing compared to a lung collapse. I bought my first vape then, and haven't returned to smoking like I have in the past. Giving up vaping was far more easier to wean off than cigarettes. X smoker of 44 yrs.

Vaping is possibly WORSE than cigarettes . You don't have 17 year olds having strokes and dying of cancer as bad with cigarettes . Good for health Canada not being misled by the complete BS that vaping is safe . It's not

Louise's avatar

POSSIBLY????

Proof of 17 yro's having strokes(cancer) from vaping nicotine.... I'll wait.

TO Surgeon General of Ontario - out of Toronto, stated that vaping is 95% less harmful than smoking tobacco. WHILE having/recovering from phenomena - I bought a vape on my way home from hospital.... haven't smoked a cigarette since. (2019) My follow up xrays shows my lungs healing up well. I get so pissed off at you goofs shitting on good people trying to rid themselves of a gov promoted addiction that destroys your lungs - I tried to kick it so hard in 44 years but never successful, always returned to it.

You are so full of shit - you're up a quart.

So just stop!

Smoking kills millions..and makes the Gov't wealthier..that's a win-win for the UN Liberals!!!

..years ago, a Chinese Canadian buddy (and co-worker) told me that for decades, the CCP was advocating that smoking was beneficial!!)..

Louise's avatar

Nine family members including me have quit smoking cigarettes using vapes. Of those 9 - 5 have stopped vaping, and that includes me. It just came naturally... just go longer and longer between hits and suddenly I'm in the car w/o a vape, and it's not a problem. I've put it in the drawer in the last year- it's there if I need it, still some vape solution in door of the fridge. But my lungs are so good compared to what they were 10 yrs ago.

Health Canada and Revenue Canada now taxes vape products to the same price as the product itself... it doubles the price of whatever your buying in vape supplies, but still they will lose revenue as vaping costs so much less than smoking, even the 'other' smokes, vaping is cheaper.

Smoke weed...at least you get something for your money!

It's my understanding that it's not the nicotine that's addictive but the oodles of other chemicals in cigarettes. Is there more than nicotine in the gum and patches? Never tried a cigarette but interested in using a partial patch because of the other benefits relevant to the garbage in the clot shots....

They refuse nicotine because they know the true health benefits of nicotine. Did you wonder why covid virus and the vaccine climged onto the nicotine receptors? Why were smokers less likely to get covid? Why do we have an abundance of nicotine receptors? Do you know what the second highest nicotine rich item you can consume is? Bet you NO ONE you know would be addicted to it: EGGPLANT! Now why would pure tobacco be bad for you exclusively? It isn’t. What is causing the CANCERS? Could it be the approximately 600 chemicals that the tobacco companies put in their products? If my comment makes you uncomfortable consider searching Dr. Ardis. He can help with the cognitive dissonance you may experience with what is true. Don’t get me started on saturated fat, cholesterol (brain food), vitamin D, GMO fruits (seedless grapes and bananas [yes they also remove nicotine in these items: WHY?]. Bottom line: nicotine good; cigarettes bad, the addiction comes from the chemical compounds inserted. Primary question: why did governments of the (Western) world push such a narrative against nicotine?

I use nicotene patches for the unknown health benefits that explainm for example, why less smokers than other are dead or were hospitalized for COVID.

Vaping is fucking terrible, canada gives nicotine gum every year to quit smoking and its covered for free, me and my husband both quit using the gum and everyone else can too. Who tf knows what is in the vapes and long term effects. Blow your fuckin horn elsewhere buds

Derek's avatar

It's great that the gum worked for you, but for many others, myself included, it created nasty side effects. I can also tell you from personal experience that vaping does work. I've been doing it for years, and I feel 100% better for it. I don't wheeze any more and I can run for a bus without getting winded. So YOU can blow YOUR fucking horn right up your ass!

Nessly's avatar

Bahahah he quit smoking and became a vaper!!! What a success story baaaabe

Louise's avatar

What an ignorant tart you are.

You rave on like an ill informed cnn yapper. Show us the ingredients in your GUM vs vape solutions. Your ignorance is astounding. TOP surgeon general of Ontario, says vaping is 95% safer than smoking. Look it up.

⚠️ 2. Major health organizations still warn that vaping has real risks

- The American Heart Association emphasizes that vaping should not be considered safe, especially for youth, and carries cardiovascular and respiratory risks.

- Health Canada states that research on vaping is still growing, and they continue to test products and monitor the 1,500+ chemicals found in vape liquids and aerosols

Damn a bad dream, thats rough hun.

Louise's avatar

NO IT IS NOT SMOKING - how dumb are you playing?

Nessly's avatar

Vaping is smoking it's got nic its a smoking product with no long term science to back it and when you die young from it or give yourself immediate popcorn lung cause government appeased your ridiculous request for smoking to be even more accessible then who will be laughing, newsflash the only one with lungs capable of laughing- me.

Nessly's avatar

But were not talking about smoking, we're talking about QUITTING smoking so you're all on some other shit if you believe vaping forever is better than smoking cigarettes. I QUIT smoking. You guys are still smoking so ya I'll yap on about truth all day bahaha a tart, what a dumb insult

Louise's avatar

I quit smoking too. So this make you the ignorant tart. I stand by my initial assessment of your nastiness.

Nessly's avatar

Nicotine gum's active ingredient is nicotine polacrilex, delivering controlled doses (2mg or 4mg) to help with smoking cessation, while inactive ingredients provide flavor, texture, and stability, including gum base, sweeteners (xylitol, sucralose, acesulfame potassium), flavors (mint, fruit), buffering agents (sodium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, magnesium oxide), and coatings/fillers (titanium dioxide, talc, carnauba wax). These inactive components vary slightly by brand and flavor but generally work to control nicotine release and provide a palatable chewing experience
