A Calgary casino cancelled a performance by Toronto comedian Ben Bankas after receiving two complaints about jokes he made regarding residential schools.
I live in Winnipeg, I know we have a problem with housing and medical care and addiction care in our city. But the same goes for Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and even the “centre” of Canada, Toronto. The story line is the same across our country and mocking and insulting the people that are suffering IS NOT COMEDY, it’s just mean! Say something funny, then he is a comedian, talk about people like they don’t matter is NOT funny!
