Prime Minister Mark Carney, “deactivated” a revolver gifted to him by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Edroğan as Liberal gun laws and federal ethics rules mean the Prime Minister can’t accept the gift.
Hmmm, one might think that the choice of a hand gun as a gift to the PM of a country with laws that ban such item, would have been vetted by the smart people they have working for them?
I think this is pretty funny. All of the NATO "leaders," except Trump, seem to be apoplectic about receiving a pistol (WITH bullets!) as a gift. They're treating these beautiful engraved guns -- which, while operative, were no doubt intended as display specimins -- like they're radioactive. These "leaders" are not living in the real world. I'm still dumbfounded at the fact that so many (most?) Canadians cannot see what Carney is doing to them. And it will almost certainly be too late for them, and for Canada, by the time a majority of them wake up.
The government doesn’t provide the PM guidance on appropriately valued gifts? He was shown up with the soccer shirt as well . Shows this government’s, fly by the seat of their pants, attitude towards diplomacy. I don’t like him and don’t care if he’s personally embarrassed but as a Canadian it reflects badly and from that perspective I do care.
Erdogan is having a good laugh. He knew what he was doing. He gifted the revolvers to the other NATO leaders knowing fully well that it would put them in an awkward position. Out of spite and disdain that he has toward them or just to put their weakness and stupidity on display?

Take note all those considering giving Canada’s Carney a gift. The most appropriate gift is a Vacuum it is well accepted
now that most things in Canada.
I find it funny that Carney talks about removing gun rights when his public safety minister doesn’t even know what an RPAL is.
