Not true. I have lived in three Muslim countries and Christians had privileges in all of them. For example, we were given days off over Christmas and Easter while our Muslim colleagues had to work. In mosques in Afghanistan, Christians were not required to remove their shoes and women did not have to cover their hair. Of course, we Christians did both because of the respect shown to us.
As for Canada being a Christian country, increasingly, it is not. Two surveys in 2023 found Christian affiliation in Canada had slipped to 44 percent, down from 53 percent in the 2021 Statistics Canada census. Fresh ISSP data from spring 2025 places it even lower, at 42 percent. 42% is a bit over 2/5ths of Christians in Canada.

We internally displaced three million Afghans, and three million more fled as refugees to Iran and Pakistan. 250,000 are still in refugee camps in Turkiye. Oh, and we killed over a million. In all the decades of my living in and travelling in many countries on four continents I never experienced, nor heard of any other white (and presumed Christian) person, being treated with disrespect by people of other religions and other cultures. This is very much unlike the Canadian culture where bigotry is alive and well. Of course, it's worse south of the border. I have long believed that grade school education on the fact that 99.9% of all humans belong to the same human race would help to rid us of our racist tendencies. Remember all the derogatory commentary about Afghan women being "forced" to wear the burka (the one with the grid of fabric covering the eyes)? When I was in Afghanistan, I met women from the US who were living there and who CHOSE to wear the burka because it protected their hair, eyes, and clothing. Dust is an ongoing problem because roads in residential areas are largely unpaved and passing vehicles stir up clouds of fine dust. Dust gets everywhere, including in the eyes where it causes all kinds of eye infections, and washing hair and clothing every day is not an option due to water scarcity. Burkas are made of a fabric that prevents dust from penetrating the fibres and a quick shake sends dust literally sheeting off the garment. I would have worn one too if I had lived there just because it makes so much sense.

I agree. Things have got really out of hand in the nanny state in recent years. The woke stuff should be kept out of schools too. When I was in high school we had Catholics and Protestants in the same classes. We had our meat-and-three veg lunches cooked from scratch at school and we all ate together (in silence), with the headmaster and teachers eating with us. We always had fish on Fridays in deference to the Catholics, who made up about one-quarter of the school population. At the start of religious instruction classes, the Catholics used to go to some mysterious place elsewhere. No one had a big scrap over any of this because everyone respected everyone else. And no one banned 2,000 students from bringing nuts to school just because one person had a nut allergy. How did we ever manage to survive?!?! We had far more dangerous things to deal with, such as unexploded bombs in various areas around our town, which prompted the army's bomb disposal squad to give us regular talks and show examples of the types of bombs we might encounter as we roamed about in local woodlands and heaths.
We certainly micromanage now, in inappropriate ways that help no one, except bolster identity rather than community.
Elevating Muslim kids who should not be fasting , as they are growing and need the day to day continuing nutrients, is not the answer. I work with Muslim people in classrooms every day, and most adults would not allow their kids to fast, unless they want to 'try' for a dy, until they over 18.

Not true. I have lived in three Muslim countries and Christians had privileges in all of them. For example, we were given days off over Christmas and Easter while our Muslim colleagues had to work. In mosques in Afghanistan, Christians were not required to remove their shoes and women did not have to cover their hair. Of course, we Christians did both because of the respect shown to us.
As for Canada being a Christian country, increasingly, it is not. Two surveys in 2023 found Christian affiliation in Canada had slipped to 44 percent, down from 53 percent in the 2021 Statistics Canada census. Fresh ISSP data from spring 2025 places it even lower, at 42 percent. 42% is a bit over 2/5ths of Christians in Canada.

Sadly true. It was a wonderful, welcoming and very safe country before the US and its Nato buddies wrecked it. I am glad that the Taliban booted us out almost five years ago, but it will take decades before it heals. We internally displaced three million Afghans, and three million more fled as refugees to Iran and Pakistan. 250,000 are still in refugee camps in Turkiye. Oh, and we killed over a million. Afghans who worked for the US were promised settlement in the US. They were flown out of Afghanistan crammed together on the floor of aircraft whose seats had been removed. They never made it to the US. They are still on hold languishing in 36 different countries. So much for the word of the US/Nato.

In all the decades of my living in and travelling in many countries on four continents I never experienced, nor heard of any other white (and presumed Christian) person, being treated with disrespect by people of other religions and other cultures. This is very much unlike the Canadian culture where bigotry is alive and well. Of course, it's worse south of the border. I have long believed that grade school education on the fact that 99.9% of all humans belong to the same human race would help to rid us of our racist tendencies. The Human Genome Project in 2003 concluded that there is no genetic basis for race. Researchers discovered that all humans are 99.9% identical at the DNA level, meaning the concept of "race" as a biological, distinct categorization is not supported by science. In other words, there is only one human race.

Remember all the derogatory commentary about Afghan women being "forced" to wear the burka (the one with the grid of fabric covering the eyes)? When I was in Afghanistan, I met women from the US who were living there and who CHOSE to wear the burka because it protected their hair, eyes, and clothing. Dust is an ongoing problem because roads in residential areas are largely unpaved and passing vehicles stir up clouds of fine dust. Dust gets everywhere, including in the eyes where it causes all kinds of eye infections, and washing hair and clothing every day is not an option due to water scarcity. Burkas are made of a fabric that prevents dust from penetrating the fibres and a quick shake sends dust literally sheeting off the garment. I would have worn one too if I had lived there just because it makes so much sense.

True, a secular state. But that does not mean we create POLICY in schools. Freedom of religious choice does not mean telling kids what they can and do at lunch, outside of bullying.
I agree. Things have got really out of hand in the nanny state in recent years. The woke stuff should be kept out of schools too. When I was in high school we had Catholics and Protestants in the same classes. We had our meat-and-three veg lunches cooked from scratch at school and we all ate together (in silence), with the headmaster and teachers eating with us. We always had fish on Fridays in deference to the Catholics, who made up about one-quarter of the school population. At the start of religious instruction classes, the Catholics used to go to some mysterious place elsewhere. No one had a big scrap over any of this because everyone respected everyone else. And no one banned 2,000 students from bringing nuts to school just because one person had a nut allergy. How did we ever manage to survive?!?! We had far more dangerous things to deal with, such as unexploded bombs in various areas around our town, which prompted the army's bomb disposal squad to give us regular talks and show examples of the types of bombs we might encounter as we roamed about in local woodlands and heaths.
We certainly micromanage now, in inappropriate ways that help no one, except bolster identity rather than community.
Elevating Muslim kids who should not be fasting , as they are growing and need the day to day continuing nutrients, is not the answer. I work with Muslim people in classrooms every day, and most adults would not allow their kids to fast, unless they want to 'try' for a dy, until they over 18.
