A BC NDP advertisement against hate crimes is getting attention online after all of the actors playing the alleged criminals were white, while all the other actors were racial or sexual minorities.
Commentators online are calling out the ad for promoting the narrative that white people are the perpetrators of hate in the province.
In a video ad posted by BC’s publicly funded “Reliance BC,” shared by the Western Standard’s Alexander Zoltan on X, several minority groups including the disabled, Muslims, and Lesbians were targeted in the depiction of hate crimes taking place.
Of those depicted as committing hate crimes targeting minority groups in the video, all of the actors were white.
A look at published cases of hate offence charges in BC, two of three of those charged with hate-related offences were not white, however.
On July 28, 2025, Khalid El Boyok, 28, was formally charged in Victoria with public incitement of hatred in relation to an antisemitic rant he allegedly made during a demonstration in downtown Victoria on March 17, 2024.
Boyok was seen in one video widely circulated on X telling Israel supporters that “Hitler was right.”
In March 12, 2024, Mircea Iulian Pripoae, a man in Victoria BC appearing to be a name with Romanian spelling, was arrested and charged for an alleged anti-Semitic hate crime.
Only one hate crime involving a white man came up upon a quick search of published hate crime charges in the province. In January 24, 2025, Gregory Joseph Bayliss was arrested in Kenora, Ontario for alleged hate offenses committed in the Kelowna area.
Resilience BC did not respond to Juno News’ requests for comment when asked why they depicted only white actors committing hate crimes despite hate crimes often being committed by Arab immigrants and other people from various ethnic backgrounds.
The group also did not respond to requests on how much public funds were used to create that video.
According to a BC Government news release from 2019, when the Resilience BC Anti-Racism Network launched, it was granted $540,000 annually to “offer a multi-faceted, provincewide approach that will provide greater focus and leadership in identifying and challenging racism.”
Since its launch, the group has received an estimated at least $3.24 million, plus a separate $200,000 one-time Community Conveners grant in 2021.

Someone need to call the police and file a complaint about the racism in thise ads!
The NDP are the definition of a hate crime.
