I do not want any person who is not a Canadian working in our elections Alberta, keep it Canadians only.

I'm a semi retired Canuck and I have submitted two applications to work. Months ago for one and weeks ago for the other. I haven't hear anything. So how can they say they are going out of province to find workers. Heads are going to roll if non Albertans get these jobs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sharon's avatar

Makes me wonder how many more applicants have been no reply.

From my own experience. Elections Alberta is also denying Albertans who are politically engaged on the ‘yes’ side of the referendum.

I’m a weirdo who likes to volunteer for elections and stuff, since we all know our elections run on volunteerism. I made the call to Elections Alberta, putting my name forward to volunteer, just the other day.

They won’t allow the pro-separatist side to volunteer, but it’s wiiiiiide open for the pro-Canada volunteers.

??...yup..sounds like a normal Canadian election..

Ok if that is not Election Bias then we be done.

And there is the monkey wrench thrown into the wheels of justice and democracy.

Regrettably, I have very little faith in Elections Alberta. I have heard that the “Let Alberta Decide” campaign is looking to have volunteer scrutineers available for the pro-separatists side?

Shelagh Young's avatar

How did they know? Was there a direct question about your views?

Greg Schaap's avatar

As I usually do with elections, I left them with my name and number. I presume they found me on social media, because the reason for rejection was “pro-separation communications,” when I got the call back.

This should transcend the comments section to become a news item. A few real journalists must illuminate their bias... Are they vetting the opinions of each employee, stocking the pond with federalists to potentially skew results? I urge you to reach out to Juno, Jasmine, Keean and all.... We all need to know.

..and Sam at The Bureau...(but he's pretty swamped !!)

Make sure there is 24/7 oversight of the completed ballots.

What a CROCK!! I have submitted two applications to work Elections Alberta. One as an admin and the other to work election day. It has been more than a month since the apps were submitted and I have heard nothing!! Something fishy is afoot!!

Randall Albert's avatar

Same here !Nothing....

RhondaCKC's avatar

After what Alberta Elections have already done and not done I have zero trust in them for an honest answer

Debra L.'s avatar

What could go wrong, will they even speak English???????

Harold B.'s avatar

I would be very worried about that . Corruption is rampant in Canada and that one is easy to do and appears they are rigging the election in Alberta already .

Don's avatar

...and NO TFWs.."new Canadians"...CCP members...Islamists...wacko lefties...brainwashed/dead elbows up sheep..."no English"....that shud about cover it!!!..🤠 🇨🇦

Why not have all questions on 1 ballot ?

Barbara Lee's avatar

So, give every government worker across the entire province a special assignment on Election Day ie shut the office and go count ballots. Canada is government worker bloated, that should be enough to count ballots in one day. Also count them as they turn them in and not after polls close. Tap all the high schoolers and all classroom teachers. No hunting for help needed.

Free room and board and transportation to Alberta plus a stipend?

I have election experience, too. Applied to work the referendum over 2 months ago but never got a call. I wonder if all canvassers are banned. Last federal election I campaigned for local conservative candidate as well as being a DRO on the day. I guess we can still be scrutineers, but it does seem like someone is putting their thumb on the scale.

Ridiculous having 10 questions on the ballot or whatever they are doing. 9 of 10 are useless as the last referendum on the equalization question. So now waste time and money counting the 9 that are meaning less as they would require constitutional changes in most cases and that is not going to happen. Most important is question 10 which is asking people if they want to challenge the current status quo with Ottawa. That will never happen unless Alberta votes for independence. Smith in her ways of sucking up to Carney has created a brutal referendum fiasco. God help Alberta as it needs to get away from the destruction of Canada.

If we have just under 3 million eligible voters in Alberta, why are they printing 45 million ballots? Divide 45 by 10 questions would mean 4.5 million ballots would be necessary. And that's assuming ALL eligible voters are voting. Only 1.7 million votes were cast in 2023 provincial election. So who would all these other voters be?

what a CROCK of BS, why do they need help - they don’t for a regular election
