If you go to a meeting you will learn that Canada is broken and unfixable. Alta will be much better off Independent. And Alta is not joining the US. They don't want to and it wouldn't be acceptable to the US anyway. Every State would have to agree and it would bne voted on. Never happen. There are wo many positives to leaving, I really encourage you to go to a Town Hall in your area.
I live in an unincorporated town on southwest Vancouver Island, Shirley, which is about 20 min west of Sooke, which is about an hour west of Victoria.
We are part of the Juan de Fuca CRD, but we don't have a mayor, etc. We kind of run things ourselves, including our own water system.
My late husband and I moved here in 2014 because Victoria was becoming unliveable with a succession of terrible and corrupt mayors and city councils.
So going to a town hall is a huge waste of time, been there, done that in Victoria.
They spent >$1 billion replacing a bridge that basically just needed a coat of paint.
They've cut down protected trees for bicycle lanes hardly anyone uses, causing traffic congestion.
They build condos, and continue to, in the crazy idea that living in the downtown core is somehow better.
Real estate is becoming a buyer's market with empty condos, overpriced apartments, houses, etc.
There are homeless people and drug addicts all over downtown Victoria, with garbage and filth piled up.
Yet the people elect these morons. The current mayor and the last one is a lesbian so everything is LGBTQ etc and DEI.
The local First Nations people are being used by the WEF etc. agenda.
Politicians are expected to thank them for being on their land at every opportunity.
The BC Conservatives are in the middle of a Leadership race because they have been splintered into one or two other groups which is why they lost the last election here.
An APP Independence Town Hall is not the same as a City/Elected body Town Hall. There are no elected officials speaking. Only the Cituzen creators of the movement and those supporters of Independence. They are information gathering Town Halls. Information, questions and answers. Very informative, no policy making involved. That will come later once the Referendum is passed although potential policy has and continues to be documented from these meetings. This is history happening and Alberta gets to create our own Constitution. Highly recommend they attend
