I believe you're right. The real cost will be to the rest of Canada. Without natural resources revenue, couple with the current trade fiasco with the U.S., Canada is in a perilous position.
But, sadly, it's all of their own making and never should have happened. I park the blame squarely on Liberal shoulders, their members and supporters.
How much in debt did the Liberals put Canada? How long before Canada is sold off to the highest bidder? Regardless of how much it costs, it’s time to get off the sinking ship.

The people of Alberta will decide what is best for them . I don't think their future inside Canada will be good especially if Carney is here for a few more years . I don't live there but see their point .

I would hope that the transfer payments would be stopped & funds used to ensure Albertal's transition to an independent state would assist with that. As Mr. Wilson stated, a LOT of the infrastructure is already in place. I am quite excited about Alberta becoming independent & a STRONG DEMOCRACY & utilizes referendums on a regular basis so ALBERTANS can make the decisions they want their government to do. Switzerland has been doing this for decades & it works really well. The population has input which is what democracy is all about!
The the Canada West Foundation report has already been proven flawed (not one savings in the report, not even equalization....?). The title and content of this makes me wonder about Bexte and the Counter Signal's real motivations regarding independence.

They neglect telling us what the $200B includes, and point out the negatives without stating what the positives are to stay in Canada.
