Lol. What jumped out at me is...there are 530,438 more healthcare numbers than registered people living in Alberta. That would indicate the possibility that their are a load off illegal immigrants getting in front of the Healthcare line than those that pay taxes. Smith is pulling a USA DOGE. Good for her.

GS's avatar

Dual citizenships, like our 3 passport holding installed Brookfield PM could be part of the discrepancy. Right?

J Holden's avatar

I look at the expired student visas. That is a group that has no right to be in Canada using our tax dollars. I would also want to know how many from the ME and Hispanic countries that came across the US border. Sure. Carney has 3 passports. I can't knock him for that but I sure as heck can wonder how Liberals voted for the mistake.

The first line in the liberal book is mistake

WOW! Alberta has DOGE. Good!

CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW MANY OF THESE PROBLEMS ARE IN LARGE MAJOR CITIES? MIND BOGGLING NUMBERS...WE CAN'T EVEN GET INTO OUR RURAL HOSPITAL WAITING ROOMS EARLY ENOUGH WITHOUT A 5-9 HOUR WAIT DUE TO SO MANY HEALTH WORKERS LEAVING THE PROFESSION AND THE MANY "NEWCOMERS" NEEDING "EMERGENCY" CARE BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T GOT A FAMILY DOCTOR. I WONDER HOW MANY NEWCOMERS HAVE DRIVER LICENSES OR HEALTH CARDS OR CITIZENSHIP?? I DO KNOW THAT MANY CANADIANS WILL JUST CALL FOR AN AMBULANCE IF A LOVED ONE IS IN HEALTH DISTRESS. IT'S THE ONLY WAY TO EVEN HOPE FOR TIMELY EMERGENCY SERVICE.

Octsris's avatar

Oh is it digital ID? If not then yes, try and figure out who those are draining the system.

But healthcare cards should only be to citizens right?

wanderer's avatar

She sure is pushing digital ID. As an albertan I do not approve! Was healthcare card, then drivers license, now citizenship. What will it be next week!!! WEF agenda!!!!

J Holden's avatar

No. This action proves who are Canadian Citizens. Not illegal immigrants that scam the healthcare and other benefits ...that you pay for.

GS's avatar

...Border Security might have that job, eventually

J Holden's avatar

Not while the Liberals reign.

wanderer's avatar

Govt causes the problem ( mass immigration) and now tries to solve it by digital ID for Albertans.

J Holden's avatar

Creating another problem.

Crunch's avatar

Canadian citizens also scam the system!

J Holden's avatar

But one must define Canadian. Working, Taxpaying? I always paid my taxes because my employer paid them but I applaud any tradesman that can hide income from any government that wastes, throws away to their friends, our money. No taxpayer should have been burdened with the Trudeau vacations or Carney's possible egregious spending. Then there are the bad guys and gals that you allude to. They lie and take benefits which should be better distributed to the old, sick, and young.

THANK YOU!! (Frontline healthcare worker) 💕

And how about Drs. How many of them are illegal, or fake.

This is a bad idea

I really like Smith. But this a push to digital identity. Bad, bad idea

Crunch's avatar

I agree… It always sounds sooo good in principle, and they try and sell it as some kind of convenience, safety thing to the public. I’m sure there’s another way to accomplish the same thing without creating the ability to track everyone with a digital ID. Creepy

Tundra Swan's avatar

We mark and chip you for our convenience, huh I mean for your convenience, easier to track, if you use that health care too often, watch out; if you have an accident we can market your organs quicker, more efficiently. And notice it's always the same, lame argument "making things easier, faster, more convenient for you the sheep". Where have we heard that argument before ? Aren't you tired of hearing the same old same old ? They really lack imagination. As for Smith she's just obeying her handlers, nothing original here. And finally (I'll get off my soapbox in a second), it's not because others do it that we should do it. What happened to critical thinking ? Remember the old question: if someone tells you to jump off a cliff, will you do it ? (Off the soapbox I jump)

wanderer's avatar

Exactly!!! This is so much more than convenience!!!

Crunch's avatar

Well, the Minister of Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction, Dale Nally has totally ‘nailed it’ when He says he thinks that Alberta Health Services (AHS) is to blame for all these unknown people,( 500,000 plus health care numbers), than registered people living in Alberta!

I’ve said it before, and I will say it again, AHS needs to be totally dismantled, the numbers DO NOT add up and there is some shady, shady stuff going on and it’s an absolute abuse of Alberta taxpayers money!

Mr. Jerry Gardner's avatar

I don't have a passport or citizenship yet I was born in Canada in 1962. Have you lost your mind Danielle. So I can't renew my drivers license because of that ?

wanderer's avatar

It's a slippery slope!! They say voluntary but now they want proof of citizenship then do I have to carry my passport with me???

PRAIRIESUN615530's avatar

JUST CARRY WHAT YOU NEED TO PROVE CITIZENSHIP WHEREVER YOU GO IN CANADA AND IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES. A NUMBER OF YEARS AGO NOW WE TRAVELLED TO ENGLAND TO CATCH ONE OF LEONARD COHEN'S LAST CONCERTS. OBVIOUSLY FOREIGNERS WILL ALWAYS REQUIRE GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTATION FROM THE COUNTRY THEY LIVE IN.

Then now is the time to get your act together dude lol

Alberta's population was estimated to be approximately 4,980,659 as of April 1, 2025, with a significant increase in the first quarter of 2025 and annual growth rates outpacing other Canadian provinces and U.S. states due to high immigration and interprovincial migration. According to the 2021 Census of Population, there were a total of 1,160,000 people aged 0-17 in Alberta, representing a significant portion of the population in that age bracket. More specifically, there were approximately 630,000 children in Alberta between the ages of 0 and 9 in 2021. Children are not registered voters. Yet children have their own individual health cards. I believe this is a play on numbers to evoke hatred. To instill prejudice and put in place a two-tiered system. Systems where people are denied basic health care. Or common rights under the Constitution of the Charter of Rights.

We should do this in Quebec, my friend was sent a voter registration card but she was a landed immigrant. She is now waiting to get her landed immigrant card so she can visit the US and be able to get back into Canada.

Sounds like a super idea. I am all for it.
