NDP Leader and far-left whack-job Jagmeet Singh has just asked the unthinkable. He is asking Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to use the federal government’s powers to take control of Alberta.

In a letter of frenzied emotion, Singh claims that Kenney’s response to the pandemic demonstrates “a failure of leadership,” which justifies federal intervention.

“It is with the utmost urgency that we write to you to request emergency support for the people of Alberta as the province copes with a disastrous fourth wave of COVID-19 and a provincial government who is either unwilling or unable to implement public health regulations that will prevent unnecessary deaths, increased rates of infection with the very real risk of variant development, and the unprecedented and massive collapse of our cherished public health care system,” begins Singh.

This statement is scurrilous and dishonest, as Kenney has implemented many public health regulations in just the last month — even though they were widely unpopular with Albertans — such as a vaccine passport, mandate for provincial workers, reintroduction of mask mandates, limited capacity and social distancing for some businesses, etc.

Apparently, all that is not enough.

“…. In the absence of any leadership at the provincial level, we urge the federal government to intercede to protect the lives of countless Albertans,” Singh continues.

In terms of solutions, Singh proposes that Trudeau come in and offer incentives for retirees to return to work, formally ask other provinces to send in more staff, and implement an Orwellian contact tracing program.

Singh also says that the vaccine passport is not nearly strict enough and that there should be no exemptions — or negative COVID test alternative — except for the “extremely small number of individuals unable to be vaccinated.”

He cites “terrified” staff, ICU numbers, and anecdotes as justification for all of this — even though, if it were necessary, Premier Jason Kenney could swiftly implement it himself.

“We recognize that health is predominantly a provincial jurisdiction but, considering the dearth of leadership shown by Jason Kenney and his United Conservative Government,” he rationalizes, “we implore the federal government to use the tools at its disposal to protect Albertans. This is an urgent emergency and we cannot wait for the House of Commons to resume. We must take action now.”

“Thank you and we look forward to your response in a timely manner consistent with the gravity of the current situation in Alberta,” he concludes.
